“Family, Culture & Kinship”

We facilitate culturally appropriate, safe, and respectful conversations with First Nations families that focus on the best interests of children.

We are a confidential service.

We carefully check for conflicts of interest to ensure that you are comfortable with the people on your mediation team.

Your information is only accessible to the mediation team members you agree to work with.

DHULAWANG ABORIGINAL CORPORATION

Dhulawang Aboriginal Corporation provides culturally appropriate, safe and respectful Family Dispute Resolution and Mediation Services for First Nations families living in Kempsey or on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales.

We provide an environment where cultural knowledge, traditions, values, and ways of being are valued and respected.

We believe that our culture is a source of strength.

We aim to facilitate positive outcomes for our community, and most importantly for our children.

We operate as a transparent, registered charitable organisation, and receive grant funding from the Australian Government’s Attorney General’s Department, under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

FAMILY DISPUTE RESOLUTION

We understand that ‘family’ goes beyond the western style family structure and we see kinship and culture as a source of healing and strength.

If you are having problems and kids are involved, we’re here to help you. We offer support and culturally safe services, without judgement.

Our Family Dispute Resolution Service provides Aboriginal families who are separated, separating, or in dispute, access to confidential culturally safe mediation services and culturally supportive alternatives to formal legal processes.

Our Family Dispute Resolution Service aims to facilitate conversations and support families and communities to make decisions and reach agreements that are in the best interests of children.

Where agreements are made, we can help refer your agreement to the Indigenous List in the Family Court where you will have a culturally appropriate support person there while you yarn with a culturally trained Family Court Registrar about your agreement being formalised by the Family Court.
